Woman in Bhopal Allegedly Blackmailed and Raped by Brother-in-Law
In a distressing incident in Bhopal, a 32-year-old woman has reported being allegedly blackmailed and raped by her brother-in-law. The accused, who is her husband's cousin, is said to have exploited the woman by threatening to defame her and reveal personal information to her family.
Details of the Alleged Crime
According to police reports, the woman is married and had developed a close acquaintance with her husband's cousin over time, as he frequently visited their home. She often shared personal matters with him, including complaints about her husband and in-laws, and he would console her. Their relationship included regular phone chats.
The accused allegedly saved several screenshots of their chats and audio recordings of their calls. In August last year, when the woman was alone at home, he reportedly showed her these old screenshots and pressured her to establish physical relations. He threatened to reveal the chats to her husband if she refused, leading to an alleged forced sexual assault.
Ongoing Harassment and Police Action
Following the initial incident, the accused is alleged to have continued sexually exploiting the woman whenever opportunities arose, using threats of defamation and disclosure to her family to coerce her. Distressed by the repeated harassment, the woman eventually confided in her husband and other family members about the ordeal.
She later lodged a formal complaint with the police, who have confirmed that efforts are underway to arrest the accused. The case highlights serious concerns about trust and safety within family circles, with authorities actively investigating the allegations to ensure justice is served.
