A 22-year-old woman employed at a shopping mall in Bidar, Karnataka, died by suicide on Wednesday, allegedly after facing harassment from a male colleague. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community and sparked outrage among activists.

The victim, a resident of Bidar, had been working at the mall for the past six months. According to her family, she had complained about being subjected to persistent harassment by a co-worker. Despite bringing the issue to the attention of mall management, no action was taken, they alleged.
On Wednesday morning, the woman was found hanging in her rented room. Police recovered a suicide note in which she named the colleague and accused him of harassment. The note also mentioned her frustration over the lack of support from authorities.
Police Action
Bidar police have registered a case under Section 306 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Karnataka Prohibition of Harassment of Women at Workplace Act. The accused colleague has been taken into custody for questioning.
Senior police officials stated that a thorough investigation is underway. They are also examining CCTV footage from the mall and the victim's workplace to gather evidence. The police have assured the family that justice will be served.
Family's Grief
