Bidar Teen Murder Case Transferred to CID for Investigation
Bidar Teen Murder Case Handed Over to CID

The murder case of a 16-year-old Dalit girl in Kamala Nagar taluk, Bidar district, has been officially handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation. An order to this effect was issued on Thursday by the Director General of Police (DGP), MA Saleem.

Background of the Case

The victim, a talented Kabaddi player, was found dead under suspicious circumstances on May 20. Her death sparked widespread protests by Dalit organizations, who demanded a CID investigation, alleging negligence and potential foul play in the initial police inquiry. The case was initially registered as crime number 53/2026 under sections 352, 351, (2), and 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Aurad police station.

Transfer of Investigation

Following the directives, the case has been transferred to the CID with immediate effect. On Friday, the Bidar Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) handed over the complete case files to the designated investigating officer from the CID. The Bengaluru CID special unit, along with the financial crimes branch, has been tasked with conducting a thorough investigation and submitting a detailed report upon conclusion.

This move comes after sustained pressure from community leaders and activists, who argued that a specialized agency was necessary to ensure impartiality and uncover the truth behind the teenager's death. The CID will now re-examine all evidence, including witness statements, forensic reports, and digital records, to piece together the events leading to the tragedy.

The victim's family has expressed cautious optimism about the transfer, hoping that the CID will bring justice to their daughter. Local authorities have assured full cooperation with the investigation team.
