Six Children from Bihar Rescued from Alleged Trafficking on Train in Agra
In a significant operation, six children from Bihar, who were allegedly being trafficked to Gujarat for labour, were rescued from a general coach of the Sabarmati Jansadharan Express (train number 15269) at Agra Fort railway station. The police confirmed the incident on Sunday, highlighting a successful intervention against human trafficking.
Joint Inspection Leads to Rescue
The rescue took place on Friday during a coordinated inspection drive conducted jointly by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and representatives from Bachpan Bachao Andolan. This effort was part of the broader Action Against Human Trafficking (AAHT) campaign, aimed at combating such crimes across India's railway network.
Officials reported that the children, aged between 12 and 15 years, were travelling under suspicious circumstances, which raised alarms during the inspection. The team's vigilance led to their immediate rescue, preventing their potential exploitation in labour markets in Gujarat.
Arrests and Legal Action
Following the rescue, two men from Bihar have been arrested in connection with the trafficking case. RPF inspector Priyavart Dahiya identified the accused as Chuman Kumar, aged 28, and Kamleshwar Yadav, aged 35, both residents of East Champaran district in Bihar.
A case has been registered against them under section 143 (trafficking) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The two suspects have been arrested and sent to jail, as confirmed by police authorities.

Police investigations revealed that the accused admitted to luring the children with promises of money and taking them to Gujarat for labour work. This admission underscores the predatory tactics often used in human trafficking rings to exploit vulnerable minors from economically disadvantaged regions.
The rescued minors have been handed over to Childline India for care and protection. They will be produced before the Child Welfare Committee for further legal proceedings to ensure their safety and rehabilitation.
