Background of the Dispute

According to the victim's cousin, the man was married to a woman from Sasaram in 2022, and the couple had frequent disputes over the past two years. “There were often arguments between them, and at times we could hear shouting from their room at night. We later came to know that he used to pressure his wife for physical relations, which led to repeated fights. The issue was so sensitive that we never intervened,” the cousin said.

Sequence of Events

On Tuesday night, the couple had dinner around 8 pm and went to their room. Around 9 pm, family members heard shouting again. By the time they reached, the man had already left the house, while his wife was crying inside. Around 10 pm, villagers raised an alarm that a man had harmed himself near the temple.

Family members rushed there and found him lying in a pool of blood. The severed organ was placed near the deity, and he was holding a blood-soaked knife. There were also injury marks on his neck. “We immediately took him to hospital. On the way, he kept saying he did not want to live and that he had removed the cause of their fights. Soon after, he lost consciousness,” the cousin added.

Sasaram Civil Surgeon Dr Maniraj Ranjan said the man had taken an extremely serious and unusual step. Police are investigating the matter further.
