Bihar STF Arrests Bishnoi Gang Associate in Patna Encounter

Bihar STF's Midnight Operation Leads to Arrest of Notorious Bishnoi Gang Associate

In a meticulously planned late-night operation, the Bihar Police Special Task Force (STF) successfully apprehended Parmanand Yadav alias Nepali, a notorious inter-state criminal with direct links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The dramatic arrest followed an intense encounter in Patna district, marking a significant breakthrough in the state's crackdown on organized crime networks.

Intelligence-Driven Raid and Initial Arrests

According to STF Director General of Police (Operations) Kundan Krishnan, the operation was initiated on January 22, 2026, based on specific intelligence inputs. The information indicated that armed criminals had gathered in the Beur police station area of Patna, planning to execute a major criminal act. Acting swiftly on this tip-off, a joint team comprising STF personnel and Patna district police conducted a coordinated raid.

During this initial phase, the police team managed to arrest three individuals:

  • Vicky alias Neeraj Kumar – resident of Jehanabad district
  • Chandan – resident of Jehanabad district
  • Shivam Anand – resident of Lakhisarai district

From these arrested individuals, police recovered illegal firearms. However, one accused managed to escape under the cover of darkness, setting the stage for the subsequent encounter operation.

The Encounter and Arrest of Parmanand Yadav

During interrogation, the arrested men revealed that the absconding criminal was Parmanand Yadav, a resident of Latehar district in neighboring Jharkhand. Based on this crucial information, the joint police team tracked Yadav to the Masaurhi police station area in Patna district.

The police laid a strategic cordon around Yadav's location. When confronted and asked to surrender, Yadav reportedly opened fire on the police team. In the ensuing retaliatory firing, Yadav sustained injuries and was subsequently apprehended by the security forces.

Recovered Evidence and Criminal Profile

From Parmanand Yadav, police recovered substantial evidence including:

  1. A 9 mm pistol
  2. Two empty cartridges
  3. A motorcycle
  4. Two mobile phones
  5. An Aadhaar card
  6. A PAN card

From the three individuals arrested earlier, police seized additional items:

  • A revolver
  • Six cartridges
  • Four mobile phones
  • A passport
  • Rs 40,000 in Indian currency
  • Nepali currency equivalent to Rs 5,110

DG Krishnan revealed that Yadav has established links with Maoist organizations operating in Jharkhand and faces more than 15 serious criminal cases registered against him across Gumla, Latehar, and other districts of the state. The officer further disclosed that Yadav had traveled to Malaysia on December 11, 2025, to meet his criminal associates.

Extortion Network and Interstate Connections

During questioning, Yadav provided critical information about an extensive extortion network. He revealed that Badal Singh, a resident of Palamu district, maintained connections with both the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and individuals named Rahul Dubey and Rahul Singh. This network was allegedly involved in extorting contractors and businessmen across Jharkhand and Bihar through audio and video calls.

DG Krishnan confirmed that extortion-related cases linked to this gang were registered in Rohtas and Aurangabad districts during late November and early December 2025. One particularly significant case involves a Rs 5 crore extortion demand made to the HR head of a beverage manufacturing plant in Buxar district.

Parallel Operation in Khagaria District

In a separate but related development, the STF conducted another operation on January 21, 2026, in Khagaria district. Based on intelligence inputs suggesting that Amar Yadav and his associates had gathered under the Mansi police station limits to commit criminal acts, a joint team of STF and local police moved to verify the information.

As security personnel approached the location, suspects opened fire, triggering a retaliatory response. The exchange lasted approximately 15-20 minutes, with nearly 50 rounds fired from both sides. Police used INSAS rifles and 9 mm pistols, firing 22 rounds during the confrontation.

Although Amar Yadav escaped using the riverine and forest terrain, police detained his father, Dileshwar Yadav, who was found hiding in a nearby forest. From the encounter site, authorities recovered:

  • Two abandoned .315 bore rifles
  • Four live cartridges
  • Two misfired rounds
  • Four spent cartridges

A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act at Mansi police station.

Ongoing Investigations and Coordination

Bihar Police are continuing their raids in close coordination with Jharkhand Police to apprehend other accused individuals involved in these cases. Authorities are working diligently to verify the criminal backgrounds of all arrested persons and trace the remaining absconding accused.

This series of operations demonstrates the Bihar STF's commitment to dismantling organized crime networks operating across state borders, with particular focus on groups linked to high-profile gangs like that of Lawrence Bishnoi.
