Major Blow to Crime Networks in Bihar
In a significant crackdown spanning two days, the Bihar Police's Special Task Force (STF) has delivered a powerful blow to organized crime in the state. Through three separate and coordinated operations conducted on Thursday and Friday, law enforcement agencies have successfully disrupted networks involved in narcotics trafficking and illegal arms trade, leading to multiple arrests and substantial recoveries.
Ramkrishnanagar Raid: Cannabis Racket Busted
The first major operation unfolded on Thursday, November 29, 2025, in the Ramkrishnanagar area of Patna. Acting on intelligence, a joint team of the STF and Patna district police raided a location and apprehended six individuals believed to be central to a sophisticated cannabis smuggling operation.
The raid resulted in the seizure of a massive 60 kg of cannabis, with an estimated street value of around Rs 5 lakh. In a clear indication of the operation's scale, police also confiscated cash amounting to Rs 15.66 lakh. The evidence pointed to a highly organized setup, with authorities recovering equipment allegedly used in the illicit trade.
The seized items included:
- Six mobile phones
- Three motorcycles
- Nine weighing machines
- Three Paytm scanners
- A pouch-packing machine
- Twelve scissors
- Seven ATM cards
The arrested men were identified as Krishna Kumar, Ritesh Rai, Roshan Kumar, Vikas Kumar, Anand Kumar, and Nikhil Kumar, all residents of Vaishali district. According to Kundan Krishnan, Additional Director General (ADG) of Bihar Police, the group had been engaged in the narcotics trade for a considerable time. A case has been registered at the Ramkrishnanagar police station, and investigations are ongoing to uncover their wider network.
Vaishali Operation: Illegal Firearms Recovered
In a parallel crackdown on Friday, the STF, working with Vaishali district police, shifted its focus to illegal arms. The operation led to the arrest of one Devendra Rai from the Judawanpur area.
Acting on a specific tip-off that weapons were being stockpiled in the Raghopur diara region for potential use in violent land disputes, the police team moved swiftly. The raid proved fruitful, resulting in the recovery of a significant cache of weapons.
The recovered arms and ammunition consisted of:
- Two 0.315 bore rifles
- One country-made pistol
- Nine live cartridges
- Two empty shells
Siwan Jewelry Heist: Robbers Apprehended
Deepening the scope of the crackdown, a third operation was conducted in coordination with the Siwan district police. This action targeted the individuals responsible for an armed robbery at a jewellery shop in Siwan's Raghnathpur.
The police team succeeded in arresting six suspects connected to the brazen crime. The recovery from this operation included the stolen gold and silver jewellery, a loaded country-made pistol, two live cartridges, and the motorcycle used by the perpetrators to flee the scene.
Ongoing Investigations and Wider Impact
The Bihar Police have emphasized that these three operations are part of a continuing and intensified crackdown on narcotics trafficking, illegal arms, and other criminal activities plaguing the state. Investigations into all cases are actively progressing, with a focus on determining the criminal backgrounds of the arrested individuals and mapping their potential connections to larger syndicates.
These successful raids underscore the commitment of the Bihar STF and district police forces to dismantle organized crime from its roots, ensuring greater safety and security for the citizens of the state.
