In a shocking incident in Bijnor, a 32-year-old man allegedly attempted to kill his wife by slitting her throat with a knife following an argument. The couple was returning from Meerut on a scooter with their three children when the dispute escalated, police said.
Incident Details
According to police, Rukhsaar (30), a resident of Chandpur, married Nasir, a labourer, six years ago. The couple had visited a relative's house in Meerut, and an argument broke out over the visit. The dispute continued as they traveled back home on a scooter.
During the journey, Nasir allegedly stopped the scooter, left their three children by the roadside, and took Rukhsaar to a nearby field. There, he attacked her with a knife, slitting her throat before fleeing the scene, police said.
Woman's Survival and Rescue
Despite suffering serious injuries, Rukhsaar managed to reach the road and seek help from passersby. A passerby took her to the Syau Community Health Centre, where she received initial treatment. She was later referred to Bijnor Medical College Hospital for further care. Her condition is reported to be stable.
Police Response
Chandpur SHO Rahul Singh said, “An investigation has been initiated. Further action will be taken based on the woman’s complaint.” Police are searching for Nasir, who is currently absconding. The three children have been taken into custody by relatives.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting the issue of domestic violence. Authorities urge anyone with information about Nasir's whereabouts to come forward.
