Bijnor Police Apprehend Two Men in Bail Forgery Scam

In a significant development, the Bijnor police have arrested two men in their 40s for their alleged involvement in a sophisticated forgery operation aimed at securing the release of an undertrial prisoner. The accused are charged with fabricating bail documents to free a man jailed in connection with an attempt to murder case and violations under the Arms Act.

Details of the Elaborate Forgery Scheme

According to official statements from the Kotwali police, the arrested individuals, identified as Ram Singh and Prem Singh, along with an advocate named Narendra Singh, conspired to create counterfeit bail papers for Shehzad Ahmed, a 35-year-old inmate. Shehzad Ahmed was incarcerated at the Bijnor district jail, facing serious charges including attempt to murder and offenses under the Arms Act.

The trio meticulously prepared forged surety documents, utilizing fake official seals that mimicked those of key authorities such as the Station House Officer (SHO), the lekhpal, and the tehsildar. In this elaborate plot, Ram Singh and Prem Singh assumed the roles of guarantors, while advocate Narendra Singh facilitated the entire process, leveraging his legal expertise to lend credibility to the fraudulent paperwork.

Investigation and Legal Proceedings

The case came to light in March 2024 when Mukesh Kumar, a clerk at the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) court, filed a formal complaint. This prompted the registration of a case against the three accused, leading to a thorough investigation by the local authorities.

Superintendent of Police Abhishek Jha provided further insights, stating, "The accused went to great lengths to deceive the system by creating fake documents with counterfeit seals. Their actions represent a serious breach of legal protocols and undermine the integrity of the judicial process."

After evading capture for nearly two years, Ram Singh and Prem Singh were finally apprehended on Wednesday from their respective villages of Syau and Jalilpur. Following their arrest, they have been remanded to jail and are now facing charges of cheating and forgery. The police have confirmed that further investigation is actively underway to uncover any additional details or potential accomplices involved in this case.

Implications and Ongoing Efforts

This incident highlights the challenges faced by law enforcement in combating document forgery and fraud within the judicial system. The Bijnor police's successful operation underscores their commitment to upholding the law and ensuring that such illicit activities are promptly addressed.

Authorities are continuing their probe to determine the full extent of the forgery network and to prevent similar incidents in the future. The arrest of these individuals serves as a stern warning to those who might attempt to manipulate legal procedures for personal gain.
