Bhopal: In a daring snatching incident, two bike-borne miscreants allegedly snatched a mobile phone from a 28-year-old man in the MP Nagar area late Sunday night and managed to flee from the scene. The victim and his friend gave chase on their scooter for nearly two kilometres, but the accused eluded capture by speeding away on their motorcycle.
Incident Details
According to the police, the complainant, Sanjay Singh Soni, a 28-year-old resident of Ayodhya Nagar, works in the media industry. On Sunday night around 11:15 pm, he was travelling from 6-Number Stop towards 7-Number Stop along with his friend Amit. During this time, Sanjay was talking on his mobile phone.
Police said that two youths riding a motorcycle approached them. The pillion rider swiftly snatched Sanjay's mobile phone before fleeing towards the Mansarovar Complex area. Immediately after the incident, Sanjay and his friend chased the accused on their scooter. Noticing that they were being followed, the miscreants allegedly increased their speed and escaped towards the Board Office area. Despite chasing them for a considerable distance, the accused could not be caught.
Police Investigation
Following the incident, Sanjay lodged a complaint at the MP Nagar police station. On Monday, the police registered a snatching case against unidentified accused and initiated investigations. Authorities are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the culprits. The police have assured that necessary action will be taken to apprehend the snatchers.
This incident highlights the growing concern over street crime in the city. Residents have urged the police to enhance patrolling and surveillance in the area to prevent such occurrences.
