A devastating road accident resulted in the death of a 43-year-old biker in the early hours of Friday near Bettakote village in Devanahalli taluk. The incident occurred when a speeding car violently collided with the motorcycle, leading to fatal consequences.
Details of the Fatal Collision
The accident took place on the Budigere–Devanahalli Main Road. A car bearing registration number KA-03-NC-5384 struck the bike from behind at high speed. The impact was so severe that the biker, identified as Venkategowda BV, a resident of Bettakote village, was flung into the air before crashing onto the road. He died instantly at the scene.
Following the collision, the car driver lost control of the vehicle, which overturned before veering into a roadside ditch. Both the motorcycle and the car sustained extensive damage in the crash.
Investigation and Fleeing Driver
Local witnesses who rushed to the scene discovered an ID card inside the damaged car belonging to a student from a medical college in Devanahalli. Villagers claimed that the person shown in the ID card was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident but managed to flee afterward.
A senior police officer stated, "We are yet to confirm who was driving the car. So far, no medico-legal case has been reported from any hospital regarding the car driver undergoing treatment for injuries."
Police Response and Legal Action
Chennarayapatna police from Bengaluru district promptly arrived at the location, conducted a thorough inspection, and removed the damaged vehicles using a crane. The victim's body has been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Authorities have registered a case against the driver responsible for the accident. The investigation continues as police work to identify and locate the fleeing motorist.
