BJP leader files complaint against TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee

A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader from West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district has filed a complaint against Trinamool Congress (TMC) Member of Parliament Abhishek Banerjee, accusing him of being involved in an illegal soil extraction and pilferage racket, according to police sources on Tuesday.

Abhijit Das, a resident of Diamond Harbour, submitted the complaint on Monday at the Kalitala Ashuti Police Station near Budge Budge.

A police official stated, "A complaint has been received from Abhijit Das. The allegations made in the complaint are being examined, and appropriate legal procedures will be followed in accordance with the findings of the inquiry."

Das claimed that he had provided the police with detailed information regarding the operations of the alleged extraction and pilferage racket, as well as the role played by the "criminal network" involved in the activities.

According to Das, this marks the second complaint he has lodged against the Diamond Harbour MP in recent days.

The BJP leader alleged that he had previously contacted the Bishnupur Police Station in Kolkata's southern suburbs last week, accusing Banerjee of misappropriating Rs 250 crore from a central government relief fund designated for victims of Cyclone Amphan.

Das stated that he would continue to approach the police with further complaints related to alleged corruption involving the TMC MP.

There was no immediate response from Banerjee regarding the allegations.
