BJP Yuva Morcha Leader Arrested in Bihar with 264 Litres of Illicit Liquor

In a significant crackdown on illegal activities, a prominent political figure was apprehended in Bihar on Monday. Rohit Choudhary, the district vice president of the BJP Yuva Morcha and a former treasurer of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) in Kishanganj, was arrested during a vehicle-checking drive. The operation led to the seizure of a substantial quantity of illicit liquor, highlighting ongoing efforts to combat smuggling in the region.

Details of the Arrest and Seizure

The arrest occurred at the Chardharia checkpoint, located under the jurisdiction of the Kochadhaman police station in Kishanganj district. Acting on a specific tip-off about a liquor smuggling nexus between West Bengal and Bihar, police launched an intensive vehicle inspection. A car with a Bihar registration number, traveling from the Kishanganj side, was stopped and searched. This search resulted in the recovery of 264.28 litres of foreign liquor from the vehicle.

In addition to the illicit alcohol, authorities confiscated the car used for transportation, Rs 30,200 in cash, and a mobile phone from Rohit Choudhary's possession. The 38-year-old, identified as the son of Kailash Chaudhary and a resident of Ruidhasa ward no. 23 in Kishanganj district, was taken into custody at the scene. Police are currently investigating his connections and tracking down any accomplices involved in the smuggling operation.
