Ujjain: A 35-year-old blacksmith was found murdered inside his room behind Nagraj temple on Bedawan Road in Ujjain's Unhel police station area on Tuesday. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community.
Discovery of the Body
Police said the body of the blacksmith, identified as Vikram Lohar, was discovered by his father Ashok, who lived nearby. Ashok had gone to wake him up in the morning. When no one responded to his calls, he forced the door open only to find his son lying in a pool of blood. Surprisingly, Vikram's wife Radhika and their 11-year-old son Samrat were still asleep in the same room.
Injuries and Investigation
Police found severe injuries on Vikram's head, possibly caused by a hammer. Since only the couple and their son were present in the room at the time of the incident, police detained Radhika for questioning as the prime suspect. Unhel police station in-charge Santosh Chouhan and CSP Vikram Ahirwar reached the spot for investigation.
Nagda SDOP Vikram Ahirwar said Vikram's mobile phone was seized to retrieve call records. He also mentioned that Vikram was known to be a drunkard. After the postmortem examination, the body was handed over to the family for last rites.
Police added that the child would also be questioned as per legal procedure if required. Further investigations are underway to uncover the motive behind the murder.
