BMW EV Hit-and-Run in Ahmedabad Leaves Auto Driver Critically Injured

A high-speed hit-and-run accident in the Nikol area of Ahmedabad has left an autorickshaw driver in critical condition after a BMW electric vehicle rammed his rickshaw and crashed into an AMTS bus stand near Bhakti Circle on Monday afternoon.

Details of the Violent Collision

Police reported that the BMW EV was traveling at an extremely high speed when it struck the autorickshaw. The impact was so severe that the rickshaw overturned and was thrown a considerable distance. The luxury car, valued at over Rs 2 crore, did not stop and proceeded to collide with a nearby bus stand, causing extensive structural damage.

CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced, capturing the speeding vehicle moments before it hit the rickshaw and smashed into the bus stop. The force of the crash led to parts of the AMTS bus stand collapsing. The BMW also sustained significant damage in the collision.

Injuries and Aftermath

The injured autorickshaw driver suffered serious head and bodily injuries and was immediately rushed to a hospital. Authorities have stated that his condition remains critical. Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene, with the BMW driver abandoning the vehicle and fleeing on foot soon after the crash.

Reports indicate that the driver was assisted by another individual on a motorcycle, who helped him escape from the location. Initial investigations by the police have revealed that the car is registered in Maharashtra and owned by a company. Officials noted that the vehicle was being used as a demo car at the time of the accident.

Police Investigation Underway

Personnel from the I Division traffic police arrived at the site and have launched a thorough investigation into the incident. A police officer provided an update, saying, "One team has gone to the hospital to record the victim's statement, while another team is trying to identify and track the accused."

Further action will be initiated once the driver is located and traced. The police are analyzing the CCTV footage and gathering evidence to apprehend the fleeing suspect and his accomplice.
