Decomposed Body Discovered Inside Parked Luxury Car in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad police were confronted with a perplexing and sensational case on Friday morning when they discovered a decomposed body inside a parked luxury vehicle. The incident unfolded in the Sarkhej area, sending shockwaves through the local community.

Foul Odor Leads to Grisly Discovery

Around 9:30 AM, the city police control room dispatched a team to Sarkhej following multiple calls from concerned locals about a persistent foul smell emanating from near a garage in the neighborhood. Officers traced the source of the odor to a dust-covered, black Mercedes GL 350 CDI parked outside the workshop.

Upon inspection, they made a grim discovery: inside the vehicle was the body of a man in an advanced stage of decomposition. The deceased, believed to be approximately 40 years old, was dressed in a T-shirt and denim pants.

Police Investigation Points to Accidental Death

Police officials have ruled out foul play in the initial investigation. Inspector L L Chavda of Sarkhej police station stated that the death appears to be from asphyxiation. Investigators theorize that the man, possibly in an intoxicated state, entered the car, passed out, and subsequently died.

"Prima facie, it is a case of accidental death and there are no signs of murder," Inspector Chavda emphasized. The state of decomposition suggests the death likely occurred about 48 hours prior to the discovery.

Vehicle Details and Identification Challenges

The Mercedes car, bearing a Surat number plate, belonged to a businessman from the diamond industry hub. It had been parked outside the garage for eight months and was reportedly up for sale. Police noted that if the man had become accidentally trapped inside, it would have been possible to unlock the door or break a window to escape.

Identification of the deceased has proven challenging. "It could not be ascertained on the spot as there were no identity documents or a phone on the deceased," Inspector Chavda explained. The process of identification is currently underway.

Forensic Analysis and Witness Statements

A team of forensic experts was called to the scene. Their preliminary inquiry supports the asphyxiation theory. Deputy Police Commissioner of Zone-7, Shivam Varma, indicated that the postmortem examination will provide a clearer picture of the circumstances leading to the death.

Police have questioned the garage owner and a security guard posted nearby. The guard reported seeing the deceased in the vicinity a few days earlier. "We suspect that the man was under the influence of alcohol when he sat inside and died," DCP Varma stated.

Ruling Out Criminal Theories

While some locals speculated that the man might have been a thief attempting to break into the vehicle, DCP Varma dismissed this possibility as highly unlikely. The Sarkhej police have officially registered the case as one of accidental death.

The investigation continues as authorities await the postmortem report to confirm the exact cause and time of death, hoping it will shed more light on this tragic and unusual incident in Ahmedabad.
