A local court in Bokaro on Friday sentenced two men to life imprisonment for the murder of 35-year-old Vishnu Sharma in Shivpuri Colony under Chas Police Station, nearly three years after the killing. The court of additional district and sessions judge-I Deepak Baranwal found the prime accused, Sanoj Singh, and his associate, Ajit Singh, guilty of murdering Sharma, a resident of Phudnidih village.
Details of the Incident
According to additional public prosecutor Sarvesh Anand Singh, the incident occurred on May 19, 2023. Sharma was allegedly called by the accused persons to their residence in Shivpuri Colony at around 6 pm, where he was shot dead in a planned attack. The matter is related to a land dispute as per the FIR.
Trial and Sentencing
During the trial, the prosecution examined 13 witnesses before the court. In addition to life imprisonment on murder charges, the court awarded both convicts seven years' imprisonment under Section 201 for destruction of evidence and another seven years under the Arms Act. All sentences will run concurrently.
