Pharmacy Owner Accused of Massive Codeine Syrup Racket

District police in Bokaro have initiated legal action against Aryan Singh, the owner of New Sun Pharma located in K S Colony, Chas, for his suspected participation in the unlawful commerce of codeine-based cough syrup. The case represents a significant crackdown on pharmaceutical malpractice in the region.

Extensive Illegal Distribution Network Uncovered

According to drug inspector Putli Bilung, the allegations against Singh are substantial. The proprietor stands accused of circulating 32,000 bottles of New Phensedyl across various establishments in Bokaro. Additionally, authorities claim he sold another 4,000 codeine-containing medicines using fabricated sales invoices.

"Aryan Singh is accused of distributing 32,000 bottles of New Phensedyl and selling an additional 4,000 codeine-containing medicines through fake sales invoices to various establishments in Bokaro," stated Bilung, highlighting the scale of the suspected operation.

Legal Action and Raid Conducted

Following these serious allegations, law enforcement officials filed a First Information Report (FIR) invoking multiple legal statutes. The case has been registered under the stringent NDPS Act, alongside relevant sections of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and the Indian Penal Code (BNS).

A joint team comprising police and drug control authorities executed a raid at Singh's residential property in Joshi Colony, Lakrakhanda, which falls under the City police station jurisdiction. The operation marks an intensified effort to curb the misuse of prescription medications for non-medical purposes.

The investigation continues as authorities work to determine the full extent of the illegal codeine syrup distribution network and identify all parties involved in the scheme.
