Bomb Hoaxes Trigger Evacuations at Vadodara University and Godhra Post Office
On Tuesday, bomb threats sent via email led to the evacuation of Parul University in Waghodia and the Godhra post office in Vadodara district. Police conducted extensive security sweeps at both locations but found nothing suspicious, confirming the threats as hoaxes.
Parul University Evacuation Causes Traffic Chaos
At Parul University, the management received an email threatening a bomb blast, prompting immediate evacuation of the campus. Thousands of students were asked to leave, causing heavy traffic congestion on Waghodia Road as they departed in a short timeframe.
Police teams, including a bomb squad, arrived swiftly to conduct a thorough security sweep of the premises. After finding no suspicious items, the university confirmed the threat was a hoax and announced that normal operations would resume from Wednesday.
Godhra Post Office Faces Second Hoax Incident
Meanwhile, the Godhra post office in the Jahurpura area was evacuated around 10:55 AM after receiving a similar bomb threat email. Staff immediately alerted police, who responded with a bomb disposal squad and a sniffer dog to inspect the premises.
Assistant Post Officer I B Pandya stated that no suspicious items were found, and the post office resumed normal functioning after the security checks. This incident marks the second bomb hoax at the Godhra post office since February 27.
Security Concerns and Local Impact
Sources revealed that a passport facilitation centre is also located at the Godhra post office premises, with the Godhra B-division police station situated nearby. The repeated hoaxes have raised concerns about security protocols and public safety in the area.
Authorities are investigating the source of the threatening emails and have urged the public to remain vigilant while assuring that all necessary security measures are in place to handle such situations.
