A chilling bomb threat sent via email plunged the Nampally Criminal Court Complex in Hyderabad into chaos on Thursday, prompting a massive security response and the complete evacuation of the premises. After a tense, hours-long anti-sabotage operation, police officials confirmed the threat was a hoax.
Panic and Immediate Evacuation
The alarming sequence of events began when the metropolitan sessions judge received an anonymous email. The sender claimed that explosive devices had been planted inside the court complex and were set to detonate by 2 pm. Upon receiving the threat, court staff swiftly alerted the police at approximately 10:40 am.
Reacting with urgency, police teams reached the Nampally court complex within a mere 15 minutes. As a critical precautionary step, authorities ordered the immediate evacuation of everyone present inside the buildings. This decisive action was taken to ensure public safety and allow security forces to conduct an unimpeded, detailed search of the entire area.
Intensive Anti-Sabotage Operation
Following the evacuation, a coordinated security sweep was launched. Teams from the Central Zone police and the City Security Wing (CSW) meticulously combed through both buildings of the court complex. The intensive anti-sabotage check continued right up to the alleged explosion deadline of 2 pm.
After confirming that no suspicious items or explosives were found anywhere on the premises, officials formally declared the threat to be false. With the all-clear given, normal court proceedings were able to resume for the day.
Case Filed Against Unidentified Culprit
While the immediate danger was ruled out, the legal repercussions for the anonymous threat-maker have just begun. Nampally Inspector K Narayana Reddy confirmed that a criminal case has been registered against the unidentified person responsible for sending the threatening email. The police investigation is now focused on tracing the origin of the hoax communication.
This incident highlights the significant disruption and resource drain caused by such false alarms, diverting critical security personnel and causing widespread panic. It also underscores the robust protocols Hyderabad police have in place to respond swiftly to potential threats, prioritizing public safety above all else.
