Bomb Threat at Trichy Post Office and Passport Office Declared Hoax

Trichy: The head post office and regional passport office in Trichy received a bomb threat from an unidentified individual on Thursday, causing temporary panic and disruption. Bomb squads inspected both premises and dismissed the threat as a hoax after an extensive search.

The head post office near Cantonment received an anonymous email around noon claiming that explosives had been placed at the post office and the regional passport office near Thillai Nagar. The city police and bomb detection and disposal squad conducted an intensive search of both buildings with the help of sniffer dogs and bomb detection equipment. After a thorough search lasting several hours, the teams could not find any explosives or suspicious objects.

The incident caused temporary panic and disruption in government office complexes, with visitors and staff being evacuated during the search. Investigation is underway to trace the source of the hoax email. Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
