Security was heightened at Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) on Monday following a serious bomb threat. The threat specifically targeted an IndiGo airline flight that was scheduled to arrive from Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates.
Immediate Security Response and Flight Details
Airport authorities received the threatening message concerning IndiGo flight 6E-1426, which was en route from Sharjah. The information was immediately relayed to all relevant security agencies. A full-scale security protocol was activated upon receipt of the threat. The aircraft, which had departed from Sharjah International Airport, was already airborne and heading towards Hyderabad when the alert was raised.
Despite the alarming situation, the flight continued its journey and landed safely at RGIA at approximately 1:05 PM. Upon landing, the aircraft was directed to a designated isolation bay as a standard precautionary measure. This allowed security personnel to conduct their operations without disrupting other airport activities.
Thorough Sweep and All-Clear Declaration
A multi-agency security operation swung into action immediately after the plane parked. Teams from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which handles airport security, along with the Telangana Police and the airline's own security team, meticulously combed the aircraft. The comprehensive check involved searching the cabin, cargo hold, and all luggage.
After a detailed inspection that lasted for some time, the security forces confirmed that no suspicious items were found on board. The all-clear signal was given, confirming the threat was a hoax. Passengers and crew were allowed to disembark normally once the security sweep was completed. Airport operations, which were briefly affected during the security drill, quickly returned to normal.

While the immediate physical threat was neutralized, the investigation into the source of the threat is now the primary focus. The Cyberabad police have registered a case and initiated a probe to trace the origin of the bomb threat message.
