Bomb Threat Hoax Sparks Panic and Evacuation at Muzaffarpur Civil Court
Panic gripped the Muzaffarpur civil court on Thursday morning after the district judge's official email received a bomb threat around 11:30 AM. The alarming message prompted the immediate evacuation of the entire court complex, disrupting judicial work until the afternoon. Authorities swiftly launched a thorough search operation, which later confirmed the threat to be a hoax—marking the third such incident reported at the court this year.
Evacuation Orders and Disrupted Court Proceedings
Advocate Arun Kumar from the Muzaffarpur Civil Court revealed that orders were issued to evacuate the premises soon after the threat email was received. "This is the third time such information has been received this year. Similar threats were reported earlier on January 28 and February 13," he stated, highlighting a concerning pattern of fake alerts. Kumar urged the administration to conduct a serious investigation and take strict action against those responsible for creating panic through these malicious hoaxes.
Another advocate, Subodh Kumar Jha, described how information about the evacuation was circulated through a WhatsApp group, notifying that court work in the first half would remain suspended and filing would resume only after 3 PM. "When I reached the court, the offices were locked and everyone was being asked to move outside," Jha recounted, emphasizing the sudden disruption to legal activities.
Intensive Search Operation and Official Response
Town-1 SDPO Suresh Kumar confirmed that the threat was taken with utmost seriousness, leading to an immediate investigation. A coordinated effort involving the dog squad and bomb disposal squad conducted an intensive search of the entire court premises, meticulously checking all suspicious and unclaimed objects. "No suspicious object was found during the search. The bomb threat turned out to be a hoax," the SDPO declared, reassuring the public of the thoroughness of the security measures.
He added that security agencies are maintaining a close watch on the situation to prevent any further incidents. In a public appeal, Suresh Kumar urged people not to pay attention to rumours and to cooperate fully with the administration to ensure safety and order.
Recurring Threats and Calls for Accountability
The recurrence of such hoax threats at the Muzaffarpur civil court this year raises significant concerns about judicial security and public safety. Advocates and officials alike are calling for enhanced measures to identify and penalize the mischief-makers behind these fake alerts. The incidents not only cause unnecessary panic but also waste valuable resources and hinder the administration of justice.
As the investigation continues, the focus remains on strengthening protocols to handle such threats efficiently and deterring future attempts to disrupt court operations through fraudulent means.
