Security was heightened across Ahmedabad on Wednesday after three schools in the city received bomb threats through email. The alarming messages triggered immediate emergency protocols, with police teams rushing to the educational institutions to conduct thorough checks and ensure the safety of students and staff.
Immediate Police Response and Investigation
Joint Police Commissioner Sharad Singhal of the Ahmedabad Crime Branch confirmed the incidents. Law enforcement officials were swiftly dispatched to each of the targeted schools. Their primary objective was to inspect the premises meticulously, sweep the areas for any suspicious items, and coordinate with school administrations to manage the situation without causing panic.
A Pattern of Threats in Gujarat
This is not an isolated event in the state. The incident echoes a similar threat received by the Gujarat High Court in October. On that occasion, a bomb threat email was sent to the registrar's official address. The Sola police were immediately informed, leading to a rapid deployment of a bomb detection and disposal squad along with a dog squad. A comprehensive search was conducted, but no suspicious objects were found.
In fact, the High Court has been targeted multiple times this year. Similar threatening emails were received on June 9, August 20, and September 15. Each instance forced authorities to launch extensive security operations, disrupting normal activities. Following the October threat, the Sola High Court police registered a formal First Information Report (FIR) and initiated a detailed investigation to trace the source of these disruptive communications.

The repeated bomb threats, first to a crucial judicial institution and now to schools, have raised serious concerns among citizens and authorities alike. These hoaxes not only waste valuable security resources but also create an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty. The police are treating these cases with utmost seriousness, combining on-ground action with cyber investigations to identify and apprehend those responsible for spreading terror through digital means.
