Delhi Police Arrests Brother-in-Law in Murder Case Involving Illicit Affair

In a significant development, the Delhi Police's crime branch has arrested a 26-year-old man, identified as Mohammad Nasim, for his alleged involvement in a murder case that occurred nearly nine months ago. The case revolves around the alleged murder of a man by the husband of the woman he was said to be having an illicit affair with.

Details of the Crime and Arrest

Nasim, a resident of Mohan Nagar in Ghaziabad, is the brother-in-law of the main accused, Irfan. The case was registered on June 1 based on a zero FIR from Jani in Meerut, under sections 103 (murder) and 238 (causing disappearance of evidence or giving false information to protect an offender) of the BNS at the Janakpuri police station.

It is alleged that Mohammad Kadir, a colleague of Irfan at a hospital, was murdered by Irfan and his associates after his illicit relationship with Irfan's wife was discovered. According to police reports, Kadir was first intoxicated with sleeping pills mixed with alcohol and later strangled to death. His body was subsequently disposed of in the Jani canal in Meerut.

Investigation and Evasion Tactics

Nasim had allegedly absconded after the incident and was declared a proclaimed offender on September 10. DCP (crime) Vikram Singh stated, "A team mounted surveillance at the house of the absconding accused for several days and nights, but he hasn't visited his house since the incident."

Police investigations revealed that Nasim had been working as a cab driver using fake identities to evade arrest. He reportedly used several phones and over 30 SIM cards issued under the names of his relatives to mislead authorities. After extensive efforts, he was traced and arrested by the crime branch.

Broader Implications

This arrest highlights the persistent efforts of Delhi Police in tackling serious crimes and bringing fugitives to justice. The use of multiple fake identities and SIM cards underscores the challenges faced by law enforcement in tracking down individuals involved in such cases.

The investigation continues as police work to uncover further details and ensure all involved parties are held accountable under the law.
