Property Dispute Turns Deadly: Brother Allegedly Bludgeons Sibling with Iron Rod in Agra

A horrific incident of fratricide has shaken the city of Agra, where a 36-year-old man was allegedly bludgeoned to death by his younger brother during a violent confrontation over an ancestral property dispute. Police officials confirmed the tragic event on Tuesday, revealing chilling details of the premeditated attack.

Violent Confrontation Over Ancestral Land

The fatal altercation occurred around 9:30 PM on Monday in the Bajrang Nagar area, falling under the jurisdiction of the Trans Yamuna police station. According to preliminary investigations, the two brothers—identified as Bhura (also known as Hubbalal), aged 36, and his 30-year-old brother Satto—had been embroiled in a bitter dispute over a 125-square-yard ancestral plot located near their family residence.

Family members disclosed to investigating officers that Satto had deliberately brought liquor and food to share with his elder brother before the incident. The two consumed these items together under the pretext of resolving their long-standing land disagreement amicably.

Gruesome Attack with Concealed Weapon

Police reports indicate that Satto had allegedly concealed a crowbar (iron rod) beforehand and launched a brutal assault on Bhura near the disputed property. The younger brother reportedly struck his sibling approximately 10-15 times with the weapon in a frenzied attack.

Despite attempting to flee and seeking assistance from a neighbor, Bhura could not escape his brother's relentless pursuit. Satto allegedly chased down the victim and continued striking him repeatedly on the head until he collapsed and died at the scene.

Police Response and Investigation Details

A police team led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Sheshmani Upadhyay promptly reached the crime scene and arranged for the victim's body to be sent for postmortem examination. Deputy Commissioner of Police (City) Syed Ali Abbas provided crucial insights into the ongoing investigation.

"Prima facie evidence suggests the murder was directly triggered by the land dispute between the two brothers," stated DCP Abbas. "The accused, Satto, is currently absconding, and multiple police teams are conducting intensive raids to trace and apprehend him. A thorough investigation is currently underway."

Authorities have registered a First Information Report under BNS section 103(1), which pertains to murder charges. The legal proceedings have been formally initiated against the fleeing suspect.

Criminal Backgrounds of Both Brothers

Further investigation revealed that both brothers had substantial criminal histories. The victim, Bhura, was identified as a history-sheeter with nine separate FIRs registered against him, including two previous murder cases.

His criminal record included:

  • Imprisonment in 2002 for a kidnapping-cum-murder case
  • Another jail term in 2003 for a separate murder case
  • Multiple cases involving theft and assault charges
  • Most recent incarceration in August last year under the Arms Act before being released on bail

Additionally, Bhura was locally known for his professed faith in occult practices. He had previously served jail time in connection with the alleged beheading of a buried minor from a graveyard in Foundry Nagar—an act reportedly committed on the advice of a self-styled godman.

The accused brother, Satto, also possesses a criminal record with two registered cases against him:

  1. A 2016 case involving charges of molestation and rioting
  2. A 2024 case for assault

The combination of property disputes, criminal backgrounds, and alleged premeditation has created a complex investigation scenario for Agra police as they continue their manhunt for the accused while piecing together the complete sequence of events leading to this tragic family violence.
