S Anil Kumar was preparing to light the funeral pyre for his sister, B Pushpavati, 52, who was reported to have died from a sudden heart attack. As he leaned in for a final farewell, he noticed faint blood marks on her face. This detail struck him as odd, prompting him to question why bloodstains would be present if the cause of death was a heart attack. His nagging sense of something amiss proved to be the catalyst for unraveling a horrifying crime.
Police Investigation and Arrests
Upon receiving Kumar's complaint, Tumakuru district police swiftly intervened. They arrested Pushpavati's daughter, Suchitra Suresh, 30, and her husband, Suresh Kumar, on Friday for murder. The police investigation revealed that Pushpavati had not died naturally but had allegedly been smothered to death while asleep on the night between February 11 and 12.
Pushpavati, a resident of Kyatasandra, had been living alone since her husband's death a year ago. In the early hours of Thursday, Kumar was informed of her supposed heart attack. When he arrived at her house by evening, he observed suspicious bloodstains near her nostrils. When questioned, Suchitra dismissed them as mosquito bites, but this explanation only heightened Kumar's suspicions.

The alleged motive for the murder centers on financial gain. Pushpavati had recently sold a property and deposited Rs 40 lakh into her bank account. Police suspect that her daughter plotted the murder to gain control of these funds, driven by greed.
