Hyderabad: The city police arrested Bharat Ras Samithi (BRS) leader and former MLA Balka Suman at BRS Bhavan in Hyderabad on Saturday afternoon for allegedly making inflammatory statements. The arrest occurred while he was addressing party workers during a recent meeting in the city.
Case Registered Under BNS and PDPP Act
A case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property (PDPP) Act by Nampally police on Wednesday. The complaint was filed by a Singareni worker regarding Suman's statements allegedly urging party workers to damage public property.
Arrest at BRS Bhavan
On Saturday, police arrested Suman at BRS Bhavan in Banjara Hills shortly after he addressed the media concerning the controversial statements he made during a party workers meeting in Hyderabad on Tuesday.
BRS workers attempted to block the police from taking Suman to the police station. However, the police managed to convince the party workers to step aside and proceeded with the arrest. Suman was subsequently taken to Nampally Police Station.
Police officials stated that he will be produced before a magistrate for judicial remand after completing the arrest formalities.
