A 19-year-old BSc student allegedly died by suicide under suspicious circumstances at her residence in the Sikandra Rao area of Hathras district on Tuesday night. The deceased, identified as Aarti, was alone at home as her family had traveled to Delhi to attend a wedding.
Police Investigation Underway
According to preliminary police information, Aarti was in contact with a distant relative from the Patiyali area in Kasganj district. Officials stated that the two had been in regular phone contact for a considerable period. Investigators suspect that a dispute between them shortly before the incident may have led to the extreme step. However, the exact cause of the suicide is yet to be established.
Sequence of Events
The matter came to light when the distant relative informed Aarti’s cousin over the phone about the incident. Family members rushed back home and found Aarti hanging. They immediately alerted the police, who sent the body for post-mortem examination.
Sikandra Rao DSP Jayendra Asthana said, “An investigation is underway, and all angles, including the alleged relationship dispute, are being examined.”
Authorities are also checking call records and other evidence to ascertain the circumstances leading to the tragedy. No suicide note has been recovered so far.
