BSF Constable Murder Case Cracked in Meerut, Five Arrests Made
In a significant breakthrough, the Meerut police have claimed to have solved the brutal murder case of a 35-year-old Border Security Force (BSF) constable. The investigation led to the arrests of the jawan's wife, her alleged lover, and three other associates on Friday, unraveling a plot driven by personal conflict.
Details of the Crime and Initial Investigation
According to police reports, the victim, BSF constable Nain Singh, was posted in West Bengal and had returned home to Dhanpur village in Meerut's Incholi area on leave starting March 6. Tragically, on March 28, he was shot dead while asleep at his residence. Initially, an FIR was registered based on a complaint by Singh's father, Garib Das, who suspected a land dispute and implicated four neighbors. However, subsequent investigation ruled out this angle after it was confirmed that the named individuals were not present at the scene during the incident.
Breakthrough Through Technical Evidence
SSP Avinash Pandey stated that the probe took a decisive turn with the analysis of call detail records and other technical evidence. This revealed that the jawan's wife, Komal Devi (32), was in regular contact with Gulshan, who is the victim's maternal cousin. Investigation uncovered that the two were involved in a relationship, which Nain Singh had strongly opposed, leading to frequent disputes between the couple. During interrogation, Gulshan confessed to plotting the murder along with Komal and three others.
Arrests and Recovery of Evidence
Police disclosed that Komal Devi even sold her jewelry to arrange money for procuring an illegal firearm, which was used to murder her husband. All five accused—Komal, Gulshan, and their associates Rahul, Guddu, and Montu—have been arrested. Authorities have successfully recovered the weapon used in the crime along with cartridges, solidifying the case against the perpetrators.
This case highlights the complexities of personal vendettas leading to violent crimes, with law enforcement leveraging technology to bring the culprits to justice.
