BTech Student Dies by Suicide at Ex-Girlfriend's Flat

A 23-year-old BTech student from Chandigarh University allegedly died by suicide after hanging himself from the ceiling at his former girlfriend’s flat in Masuri, Ghaziabad. Police reported that the couple had ended their relationship three months prior.

The student, a resident of Amroha, had visited his former girlfriend—a BCA student from Gajraula—on Wednesday night. According to his relatives, he spoke with his father around 7:30 am on Thursday, stating that friends had called him for a project and he would soon leave for Punjab. However, around 8 am, one of the friends informed the father that the student had hanged himself.

At the time of the incident, the student, his former girlfriend, a female flatmate, and a male mutual friend were present in the flat. Police said the student argued with the mutual friend during the night of Wednesday and Thursday, allegedly over the mutual friend’s friendship with the BCA student.

On Thursday morning, when the BCA student noticed her room was locked from inside, she raised an alarm. The group later discovered the student’s body.

“Around 8 am, police received information from the landlord of the house. A team rushed to the spot and sent the body for post-mortem examination after a forensic inspection,” said ACP Bhaskar Verma. “All three present in the flat have been detained for questioning.”

No complaint has been registered in the case so far, but an investigation is underway, police added.
