A tragic road accident at a toll plaza in West Bengal's Burdwan district on Saturday resulted in the death of a private company's general manager and left another executive critically injured. The fatal collision occurred when their car rammed into the rear of a stationary truck.

The incident took place at the Banskhopa toll plaza. According to police reports, the car was travelling from Kalyani to a private hotel in Muchipara for a business meeting when the driver failed to notice the stationary truck and crashed into it from behind. The impact was severe, claiming the life of the driver on the spot.

Victims Identified, One Succumbs to Injuries

The deceased executive has been identified as Gautam Jana (50), a resident of Rajarhat. The injured general manager, Sandeep Chakraborty, hails from Kalyani in the Nadia district. Chakraborty was rushed to a nearby hospital where he is currently undergoing treatment for critical injuries sustained in the crash.

Police Investigation Underway

Officials from the Kanksa police station and the local traffic guard immediately rushed to the accident site to manage the situation and begin an investigation. While the primary cause appears to be a collision with a stationary vehicle, authorities are looking into all possible factors, including driver fatigue, speed, and visibility conditions at the toll plaza.
