Indore: In a daring burglary, thieves broke into a house near Trimurti Lal Haveli in Dhar city during the early hours of Tuesday and made off with cash and jewellery worth several lakh rupees after locking the family inside.

The theft came to light around 6:30 am when the family of Tarun Khatri woke up and discovered that the door to the first floor, where they had been sleeping, was locked from the outside. After managing to open the door and reaching the ground floor, they found household items scattered across the rooms and realized a theft had occurred.

Timing of the Incident

Khatri stated that the burglars are believed to have struck between 3:30 am and 4 am. They reportedly spent considerable time inside the house, ransacking rooms and checking cupboards before escaping with the valuables.

Modus Operandi

Investigators suspect that the accused first broke the lock of the main entrance to enter the house. They then forced open the locks of several rooms and thoroughly searched the premises. Gold and silver ornaments, along with Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 3 lakh kept inside an almirah, were stolen.

Following the complaint, Kotwali police arrived at the scene. Officers are examining CCTV footage from nearby locations in an effort to identify and trace the accused.
