Police Investigation and Public Reaction
Sinha police station SHO Sumit Kumar provided updates on the case, stating, "The bus involved in the accident has been seized. The driver fled the spot, and efforts are on to identify and arrest him."
Following the tragic event, angry locals expressed their outrage by pelting stones at the bus. Police personnel intervened promptly to bring the volatile situation under control. The body of Gita Devi was subsequently sent to Sadar Hospital in Ara for a postmortem examination.
Context of the Ceremony
The mundan ceremony, a traditional Hindu ritual involving the first haircut of a child, is typically a joyous occasion marked by family gatherings and religious observances. This tragic accident has cast a shadow over what should have been a celebratory event, highlighting concerns about road safety in the region.
The incident underscores the vulnerability of pedestrians in areas with heavy vehicular traffic, particularly during religious gatherings that attract large numbers of people to river ghats and other ceremonial sites.
