Businessman Arrested for Strangling Girlfriend

In a tragic incident in Ahmedabad, a 30-year-old businessman named Yasin Qureshi was arrested by the Sarkhej police for allegedly strangling his girlfriend, suspecting her of having an affair. The victim, Seema Pathan, aged 27, was discovered dead at her residence in Fatewadi on the morning of June 6. Her brother found her with visible injury marks around her neck and immediately alerted the family. Subsequently, her mother lodged a formal complaint with the police.

Investigation and Reclassification

Initially, the case was investigated as a suspicious or accidental death. However, after the post-mortem report confirmed strangulation, the case was reclassified as murder. Seema, who had finalized a divorce five months earlier, was living with her two children at her mother's house. She had begun a relationship with Qureshi, a resident of Khamasa, who was planning to marry her.

Possessive Behavior and Confession

Investigators revealed that Qureshi was possessive and frequently quarreled with Seema over suspicions about her conduct. Using CCTV footage, call detail records, and human intelligence, the police identified and detained him. During interrogation, Qureshi allegedly confessed to killing her during one such confrontation. He has been booked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for murder.
