Thane Murder-Suicide: Cab Driver Kills Woman, Then Himself; Toddler Son Witnesses Horror
A shocking incident has come to light in Maharashtra's Thane district, where a Mumbai-based cab driver allegedly stabbed a woman to death inside his vehicle before taking his own life. The gruesome event unfolded in the Badlapur area, leaving the woman's three-year-old son as the sole eyewitness to the tragedy.
According to police officials, the bodies of the woman, a local resident, and the driver—identified as Ganesh Shinde, a resident of Ghatkopar—were recovered on Thursday afternoon near Jeweli village. A police team discovered the scene after receiving information about the incident. The child, who was present inside the car during the attack, reportedly told investigators that the driver stabbed his mother with a knife.
After the assault, Shinde allegedly turned the same weapon on himself. However, police are also examining whether there was any other cause of death, pending the post-mortem examination. Deputy Commissioner of Police Sachin Gore confirmed that the bodies have been sent for autopsy to determine the exact circumstances.
A case under Section 103(1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered against the deceased driver at the Badlapur (East) police station. Officials stated that the exact relationship between the woman and the driver, as well as the motive behind the incident, will become clearer after recording statements from family members.
