A major accident triggered by dense fog resulted in a car being completely destroyed by fire on the busy Ludhiana-Delhi National Highway late Friday night. The incident occurred near the Bhattiyan area of Khanna, but in a fortunate turn of events, the driver managed to escape without any injuries.
Sequence of the Fog-Induced Collision
The driver, identified as Subhash Kumar from Patiala, was on his way from Ludhiana to Patiala. As he approached the vicinity of a gurdwara on the GT Road in Bhattiyan, poor visibility due to intense fog caused his vehicle to ram into a truck moving ahead of him. The impact of the collision was severe and immediate.
Local sources reported that the car caught fire instantly after the crash. The flames spread rapidly, quickly engulfing the entire vehicle. Showing quick presence of mind, Subhash Kumar jumped out of the car just in time. Within minutes, the automobile was reduced to a shell by the intense blaze.
Emergency Response and Traffic Chaos
Upon receiving information about the accident and fire, emergency services rushed to the spot. A team from the Sadak Suraksha Force, led by Sub-Inspector Sukhdev Singh, along with a fire brigade unit, reached the scene. The firefighters worked diligently and managed to douse the flames after considerable effort, but the car was already destroyed.
The sudden accident and ensuing fire caused panic and temporary chaos at the site, disrupting traffic flow on the crucial highway. Sub-Inspector Sukhdev Singh and his team took charge of the situation, regulating vehicles and working to restore order. Their efforts ensured that the traffic, which had been briefly snarled, returned to smooth movement soon after.
