A case has been registered against a man for allegedly behaving indecently with women sanitary workers of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) near Ambazari. The accused, identified only as 'Parate', is a resident of a nearby slum and is currently absconding. Municipal commissioner Vipin Itankar has ordered an inquiry into the incident.
Details of the Incident
According to officials, the incident occurred when a hand trolley used by sanitation workers was parked near the accused's residence during routine garbage collection. Parate allegedly approached the trolley and dumped his household waste into it without permission. When the workers objected, he reportedly spoke to them rudely and inappropriately.
Workers Affected
The affected workers—Mamta Arkhel, Maya Bondekar, and their supervisor (jamadar) Kavita Arkhel—were subjected to indecent remarks. They approached the local police station and lodged a complaint. Based on their statement, a case was registered against the accused.
Police Investigation
Police teams visited Parate's residence to apprehend him, but he was not found and is believed to have fled after the incident. Efforts are currently underway to trace and arrest him. Assistant commissioner of Dharampeth zone, Rajkumar Meshram, stated that the sanitary workers have been summoned to his office for recording statements. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
