A 25-year-old cashier lost his life in a tragic incident when a knife-throwing prank turned fatal at a bar in Dharampeth, Nagpur, on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred around 4pm at an establishment located on West High Court Road, falling under the jurisdiction of Sitabuldi police station.

Victim and Accused Details

The deceased has been identified as Avdhesh Kumar (25), a native of Lucknow who was residing in the Hilltop area of Nagpur. He died after sustaining a single stab wound to the chest. Police have detained Ayush Sukhbir Singh Negi (24), a bar employee originally from Uttarakhand, in connection with the case. The two men were not only colleagues but also roommates. Ayush's father is a doctor in Uttarakhand.

Sequence of Events

According to preliminary investigations, the incident unfolded while the two were allegedly joking with each other. Witnesses informed police that Ayush threw a knife at Avdhesh in a playful manner, but the blade struck him just below the neck, causing him to collapse instantly. Sources revealed that Avdhesh had initially tossed the knife at Ayush while it was still in its sheath. When Ayush threw it back, the blade pierced Avdhesh's upper chest.

Bar staff, including Ayush, rushed the injured Avdhesh to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival. The incident left employees and regular patrons in shock, as they described the two as having a friendly relationship and frequently engaging in light-hearted banter.

Legal Action and Investigation

Sitabuldi police have registered a murder case against Ayush and taken him into custody. A forensic team examined the crime scene and recovered the weapon.
