The Central Bureau of Investigation has apprehended two officials from the Divisional Railway Office in Ferozepur on charges of corruption. The accused have been identified as Dharmveer, from the Power Department, and Vijay Kumar, from the Carriage and Wagon Department. Both were taken into custody following an inquiry, and a First Information Report has been registered at the CBI police station in Chandigarh.
Background of the case
The CBI action came after a complaint was filed by Pawan Kumar, a senior clerk at the Divisional Railway Manager’s Office. In the complaint, it was alleged that the two officials had demanded a bribe of Rs 60,000 from the complainant in exchange for extending a favour. The CBI team arrived in Ferozepur on Thursday evening and conducted a preliminary investigation before arresting the duo.
