Red Fort Blast: CCTV Shows Suspect Umar Nabi Entering Delhi Before Attack
CCTV Captures Red Fort Blast Suspect Umar Nabi in Delhi

Delhi Police has made a significant breakthrough in the Red Fort blast case with newly obtained CCTV footage that tracks the movements of prime suspect Dr Umar Nabi on the day of the explosion.

CCTV Evidence Reveals Suspect's Route

According to police statements released on Thursday, the surveillance footage from Badarpur border toll plaza shows Umar Nabi entering Delhi driving a white Hyundai i20 car around 8:02 AM on November 10, the same day as the devastating explosion.

Investigators noted that the suspect, wearing a mask, briefly stopped at the toll gate to pay cash before proceeding into the city. What caught investigators' attention was his repeated glances toward the CCTV camera, suggesting he was aware security agencies might be tracking him.

A large bag visible on the back seat of the car is believed to have contained the explosives used in the subsequent attack, according to a senior police officer quoted by PTI.

Multiple Sightings Across Delhi

Later that day, another CCTV clip from a lane near a mosque close to Ramlila Maidan captured Umar walking along a narrow stretch. Police suspect he visited the mosque to offer prayers before heading toward Red Fort.

Officials confirmed Umar was recorded on several CCTV cameras across Delhi, including footage from the Sunehri Masjid parking lot near Red Fort where he arrived at 3:19 PM and departed at 6:28 PM - just 24 minutes before the explosion.

Devastating Blast and Investigation

The powerful explosion shook the national capital at 6:52 PM on Monday when the same Hyundai i20 car detonated near Red Fort, resulting in 13 fatalities and multiple injuries. The blast's impact damaged several nearby vehicles and scattered debris across the road.

Forensic teams have collected over 40 samples from the blast site, including mangled vehicle remains and human body parts. A special team of experts has been constituted to analyze the material and determine the type of explosives used.

Police stated that efforts are underway to trace Umar's possible handlers and reconstruct his movements throughout the day to determine whether he had any accomplices in planning and executing the attack.
