Ceiling Collapses in Old School in Kalaburagi

Students, parents, and office-bearers of the All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO) staged a protest on Monday in front of the Government Higher Primary School building in Sangolagi (C) village, Aland taluk, Kalaburagi district. The demonstration followed an incident on Sunday when chunks of cement from the ceiling collapsed in the 60-year-old school building.

Incident Details

The collapse occurred in the old structure, which has been in use for six decades. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as the incident took place after school hours. However, the event has raised serious concerns about the safety of students and staff in aging government school buildings.

Protest Demands

The protesters demanded immediate repairs to the building and a thorough inspection of all similar structures in the region. They also called for the construction of a new school building to ensure the safety of children. AIDSO leaders emphasized that the government must prioritize infrastructure in rural schools.
