Central Delhi Accident: Two Dead in Late-Night Collision

NEW DELHI: A late-night collision between a motorcycle and a goods carrier near Mahadev Road T-point on Ashoka Road in central Delhi left two persons, including a teenager, dead, police said on Tuesday.

Incident Details

A PCR call regarding the accident was received late at night, following which a police team rushed to the spot opposite the PNB Complex. On reaching the scene, officers found two persons lying unconscious on the road. They were immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared them brought dead, police said.

Victims Identified

The deceased were identified as Yagya Bhatia (20), a BSc student, and Abhav Bhatia (14), a school student. Both were residents of Ashok Nagar. Police said the accident involved a motorcycle and a goods carrier, though the exact sequence of events leading to the collision is yet to be ascertained.

Investigation Underway

The district crime team was called to the spot, and a forensic examination of the scene was conducted to collect evidence. The bodies have been kept at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination, officials said. A case has been registered under relevant sections of law based on the statement of an eyewitness. The offending vehicle has been identified, and efforts are underway to apprehend its driver, who is currently absconding.
