The victim, identified as Varsha, was on duty and alone in a lift located behind the blood bank when a young man wearing a mask entered. According to reports, the assailant pretended to engage in casual conversation, inquiring about a medical department to lower her guard.
As the lift reached the third floor, the man stepped out, then suddenly turned back and attempted to snatch her mangalsutra. Despite the victim's resistance, the accused pushed her forcefully and fled towards the staircase, successfully escaping with the valuable chain.
Security Lapses and Delayed Response
Alarmingly, no security guard was present in the lift area at the time of the incident. The matter only came to light when a guard arrived during routine rounds and subsequently informed senior officials. The woman later contacted the Bagsewania police station to report the crime.

Preliminary investigations suggest the accused fled the campus through the IPD gate, taking advantage of low patient footfall due to the Sunday holiday and Republic Day on January 26.
