Chandigarh Placed on Maximum Security Alert Following Detailed Bomb Threat Email
Panic spread across Chandigarh on Thursday morning as authorities received a chilling email threatening bomb explosions at multiple high-security locations throughout the city. The comprehensive threat specifically mentioned nine prominent schools, the Chandigarh secretariat, Chandigarh airport, and the official residence of Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.
Staggered Timing Threats Prompt Immediate Security Response
The threatening communication warned of explosions occurring at different locations at precise staggered timings—1:11 PM, 2:11 PM, and 3:11 PM. This detailed scheduling prompted security agencies to initiate immediate action well before the specified hours, placing the entire city on the highest level of alert.
The schools specifically named in the threat included:
- St Soldier International School, Sector 45
- Ryan International School, Sector 49
- Ajit Karam Singh International Public School, Sector 45
- Saupin's School, Sector 32
- St John's School, Sector 26
- Kundana International School
- Shivalik Public School
- Vivek High School, Sector 38

Massive Security Operation Launched Across Vulnerable Locations
Following receipt of the detailed threat, a massive coordinated security operation was immediately launched involving multiple agencies. Police forces, intelligence units, bomb disposal squads, and specialized dog squad teams conducted extensive search operations at all threatened locations including schools, government buildings, the secretariat complex, and the airport.
Security was significantly tightened at the airport and all VIP zones, with particular attention given to the perimeter around Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini's residence. Additional police forces were deployed at schools and major public gathering places throughout the city, while patrolling was intensified and strategic blockades were established across key transportation routes.
No Suspicious Objects Found But Investigations Continue
Despite the thorough searches conducted by security teams, no suspicious objects or explosive materials were discovered at any of the threatened locations. However, security agencies maintained heightened vigilance and continued precautionary checks throughout the day as a preventive measure.
Preliminary investigation of the threatening email revealed it contained inflammatory and objectionable language, which authorities took seriously given the specific nature of the threats. Security sources indicated this incident follows a pattern of similar threats, noting that since 2025 there have been several instances where over 50 schools received simultaneous threat emails.
Cyber Investigation Launched to Trace Threat Origin
The cyber crime cell and multiple investigative agencies have launched a comprehensive probe to trace the source of the threatening email. Technical analysis is currently examining IP addresses and digital footprints to identify the origin of the communication.
While officials acknowledged the possibility that this could be a hoax created by miscreants, the specific mention of high-security locations and detailed timing information warranted a thorough investigation from all possible angles. The administration has appealed to residents to remain calm and avoid spreading or believing unverified rumors while security operations continue.
