Chandigarh: Case Filed for Throwing Puppy into Tandoor

Chandigarh: The Union Territory police have registered a case against an unidentified individual for allegedly throwing a puppy into a burning tandoor in Bapudham Colony. The incident took place in the early hours of Saturday, and a case has been filed at the Sector 26 police station under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, and relevant sections of the BNS. No arrests have been made so far.

Incident Details

The complainant, Sanjay (26), a resident of Phase II, Bapudham Colony, reported that around 1:40 am on Saturday, while returning home on foot, he saw a man approaching from the Sampark Centre side carrying a puppy near a dhaba. Sanjay alleged that the man suddenly threw the puppy into a tandoor placed outside the eatery and fled the scene. He immediately rushed to the tandoor and pulled the animal out, but the puppy had already succumbed to its injuries.

Action Taken

Sanjay later buried the puppy near Sukhna Choe in the same locality and informed the police. After recording his statement and conducting a preliminary verification, the police registered an FIR against the unidentified accused. Investigators are now scanning CCTV footage from the area to identify and trace the suspect. The complainant stated that he can identify the person who threw the puppy into the tandoor if he comes before him.
