Chandigarh Residents Demand Action Against Drug Menace in Hallomajra Park

Residents of Hallomajra in Chandigarh have raised serious concerns about groups of miscreants consuming alcohol and drugs inside a neighbourhood park, creating a persistent nuisance in the area. Despite multiple complaints to various police authorities, no concrete action has been taken to address the issue, leaving the community frustrated and fearful.

Repeated Complaints Fall on Deaf Ears

According to local residents, they have submitted numerous written and verbal complaints to the local police station, police post, the DSP office, and senior officers. However, the problem remains unresolved, with no visible intervention from law enforcement agencies. The residents have now sought immediate action to curb drug use and restore safety in their neighbourhood.

Escalating Threat to Public Safety

Complainants Sardar Ranjit Singh and Sardar Ajmer Singh reported that the consumption of alcohol and other intoxicants typically begins after 10 PM. In recent weeks, this disturbing activity has also been observed during afternoon and evening hours, indicating a worsening situation. The residents emphasized that the park has become increasingly unsafe for women, children, the elderly, and daily walkers due to these activities.

Demands for Enhanced Security Measures

In response to the growing threat, Hallomajra residents have put forward several demands to ensure their safety:

  • Regular police patrolling in and around the park area
  • Increased surveillance during night hours to deter illegal activities
  • Strict action against those involved in drug use and related nuisance activities

The community's plea highlights the urgent need for law enforcement to address this public safety concern and restore peace in the neighbourhood park that should serve as a recreational space for all residents.
