Electrician Robbed at Knifepoint in Chandigarh's Sector 47, Rs 5,000 and Documents Stolen

In a distressing incident that has raised concerns about public safety, an electrician was robbed at knifepoint in Sector 47 of Chandigarh on Wednesday night. According to police reports, two miscreants targeted the victim, making off with his wallet containing Rs 5,000 in cash and several important personal documents.

Details of the Robbery Incident

The complainant, identified as Dinesh, is an electrician hailing from Jagatpura village in Mohali. He recounted to the police that the robbery occurred around 9 pm as he was returning home from work on his bicycle. While passing through Sector 47, two young men, estimated to be between 20 and 25 years old, intercepted him.

The confrontation escalated quickly: one of the accused grabbed Dinesh's bicycle and attempted to snatch his mobile phone. When Dinesh resisted this aggressive move, the second assailant brandished a knife, pressing it against his stomach in a threatening manner. Under this duress, the robbers successfully took his wallet, which held the cash and crucial documents.

Victim's Attempted Pursuit and Lack of Assistance

Following the robbery, Dinesh did not remain passive. He immediately raised an alarm and gave chase to the fleeing miscreants, pursuing them for nearly 150 meters in a desperate attempt to recover his belongings. During this pursuit, he also appealed to passers-by for help, hoping for intervention or support from the public.

Unfortunately, no one stepped forward to assist him, highlighting a concerning lack of bystander intervention in the situation. The accused managed to escape, reportedly fleeing in the direction of Sector 48, leaving Dinesh without his valuables and shaken by the experience.

Police Response and Ongoing Investigation

Local law enforcement authorities have taken swift action in response to this incident. A formal case has been registered based on Dinesh's complaint, and an investigation is currently underway. Police are likely examining the area for clues, reviewing any available CCTV footage, and gathering witness statements to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.

This robbery underscores ongoing security challenges in urban areas and serves as a reminder for residents to remain vigilant, especially during evening hours. The theft of important documents adds an additional layer of inconvenience and potential risk for the victim, beyond the immediate financial loss.

As the investigation progresses, authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident or the suspects to come forward to aid in bringing the culprits to justice and preventing similar crimes in the future.
