Chandigarh Police Complex Violence: Constable Stabs Lawyer
Chandigarh: Police Constable Stabs Lawyer in Dhanas

Violent Altercation Rocks Police Residential Complex

A peaceful Monday morning turned violent at the Police Complex in Dhanas, Chandigarh, when a senior police constable allegedly stabbed a young lawyer in a shocking display of aggression. The incident, which involved two families connected to the police force, has raised serious concerns about conduct within police residential premises.

The Attack That Shook the Community

According to the official complaint filed at Sarangpur police station, 23-year-old Nishant Pandey, a practicing lawyer at the district court and brother of woman constable Neha Pandey, was preparing to leave for work on his scooter when the confrontation began. Senior constable Amit, currently posted in Police Line, allegedly stopped Nishant without any apparent provocation and began shouting abusive language.

The situation escalated rapidly when Amit forcibly sat on Nishant's scooter and demanded a ride. When the young lawyer refused this unwarranted request, the police constable reportedly lost his temper completely. In a fit of rage, Amit allegedly pulled out a knife and attacked Nishant, causing significant injury to his hand.

Immediate Aftermath and Police Response

The commotion during the attack attracted immediate attention from other residents of the police complex. Woman constable Neha Pandey, Nishant's sister, witnessed the incident and promptly alerted the police authorities. Law enforcement personnel arrived quickly at the scene and arranged for the injured lawyer to be transported to GMSH-16 for emergency medical treatment.

Medical reports confirmed that Nishant Pandey received stitches for his knife wound and is currently recovering from the traumatic experience. Meanwhile, the alleged attacker, senior constable Amit, was immediately taken into police custody following the incident.

Underlying Causes and Investigation Findings

Preliminary investigation by Chandigarh police has revealed troubling details about the accused constable. Police sources indicate that Amit struggles with alcohol addiction, which may have contributed to his violent outburst. The attack appears to have been triggered solely by Nishant's refusal to provide him with a scooter ride.

This incident highlights the growing concerns about behavioral issues among some police personnel, even within their own residential complexes. The fact that such violence occurred between families connected to the police force has particularly alarmed the law enforcement community in Chandigarh.

The case continues to be investigated, with authorities examining all aspects of the confrontation between the two police families. This violent episode at the Dhanas Police Complex serves as a stark reminder of the need for better conflict resolution mechanisms and behavioral monitoring within police residential communities.
