Chandigarh Taxi Driver Brutally Murdered in Alleged Revenge Plot
In a shocking incident that has sent ripples through Chandigarh, a 25-year-old taxi driver was kidnapped in broad daylight and later found murdered, with police pointing to a chilling revenge motive linked to a past accidental death.
Daylight Abduction and Gruesome Discovery
The victim, identified as Sushil alias Sahil, a resident of Sector 20 in Chandigarh, was allegedly abducted from Hallomajra on Friday. According to police reports, the abduction occurred after Sushil had dropped off a relative, Vijay Kumar, near the Ravidas temple. Three to four assailants intercepted his vehicle, brutally thrashed him, and dragged him out before speeding away with him on a motorcycle.
Vijay Kumar, who operates a bike cab and is a relative of the victim, immediately alerted the authorities. SHO Rajiv of Sector 31 police station, along with Hallomajra chowki in-charge Sunil and other personnel, swiftly reached the scene to record Vijay's statement and initiate an investigation.
The grim discovery came on Friday afternoon when police received information about an unclaimed body at the Dera Bassi civil hospital mortuary. The body, which showed signs of a violent attack with iron rods, was later identified by Sushil's grieving family members. Hospital sources revealed that the body had been found near the hospital at night and kept unclaimed until identification.
Revenge Motive Linked to 2025 Incident
Family members of the deceased have strongly linked the murder to a tragic incident from November 2025 involving the brother of the prime suspect, Anil, a resident of Preet Colony in Zirakpur. According to relatives, Sushil had attended a birthday party where, after heavy drinking, Anil's brother and friends demanded to drive Sushil's new car. When Sushil refused, a scuffle ensued, leading to the accidental death of Anil's brother as Sushil attempted to drive away.
Police confirmed that an FIR for accidental death had been registered against Sushil at Zirakpur police station following that incident. Before authorities could arrest him, it is alleged that Anil tracked Sushil down and orchestrated the kidnapping and murder to avenge his brother's death.
Police Action and Family's Anguish
Based on Vijay Kumar's complaint, Sector 31 police have registered a case under relevant sections of the BNS against Anil and his three associates. Intensive raids are currently underway in Zirakpur and surrounding areas as police work to apprehend the accused.
The victim's family is devastated, revealing that Sushil was engaged to be married in just two months. Having lost his parents and sister, he lived with his brother and sister-in-law in a government house in Sector 20. They describe the murder as a cold-blooded act of revenge, leaving them in profound grief.
As the investigation continues, this case highlights the tragic consequences of unresolved conflicts and the urgent need for justice in Chandigarh's community.
